Elixir Proprietatis

The following is a rework of the Elixir Proprietatis from the book Better Living Through Alchemy Praxis by LW Osburn, available feom all reputable bookstores.
The Elixir Proprietatis is known historically as the highest cordial to ward of disease, increase vitality. It assists in the healing of numerous health issues emanating in the body. Coined as the (Paracelsus Elixir), more recently (Tincture of Aloes).

The method is straightforward. The components are steeped in a good Spirit then digested through heat. Following that a number of distillations seperate the elements. The three extracts of salts, Sulphur and Spirit are then combined to form the finished product. Pryrolytic distillation may be used to further refine the elements.

I started with a 30% Orange Wine, once distilled. The reason I chose this progression was because I would distill the wine off the matter a number of times to achieve the required purity of spirit. Secondly, I would end up with a determined water to the products used. I will use the water fraction for the salt work later.

To hand I had good quality Mrryh. I grow Aloe Vera plants so these were already available. I would purchase Saffron from a local store later.
The book includes excerpts from various texts. Renowned Alchemists mentioned include John Babtista, Van Helmont, Paracelcus, Crollus.

I added the Mrryh and Aloes together. Mashed them with a wood rolling pin. Continued a number of slow distillations to increase the purity of Spirit. This also removed the water fraction which was kept aside for the work with the salts later.

Extracting A Volatile Salt.

I extracted the first Volatile salts of the Elixir Propriatatis with a low heat distillation. I added these salts to the Spirit then back to my starting matter to continue more distillations. Each rotation refines the spirit further. This creates a determined Spirit which rapidly ingresses the body/mind conjunction of the operator. The refined Spirit may be used as is with the salts and volatile oils. I will keep the Fixed Sulphur aspect with the spirit and salts, which I will come
