Elixir Proprietatis

The following is a rework of the Elixir Proprietatis from the book Better Living Through Alchemy Praxis by LW Osburn, available feom all reputable bookstores.
The Elixir Proprietatis is known historically as the highest cordial to ward of disease, increase vitality. It assists in the healing of numerous health issues emanating in the body. Coined as the (Paracelsus Elixir), more recently (Tincture of Aloes).

The method is straightforward. The components are steeped in a good Spirit then digested through heat. Following that a number of distillations seperate the elements. The three extracts of salts, Sulphur and Spirit are then combined to form the finished product. Pryrolytic distillation may be used to further refine the elements.

I started with a 30% Orange and various herb combo Wine, once distilled. The reason I chose this progression was because I would distill the wine a number of times to achieve the required purity of spirit. Each progression adding more herb combo. Secondly, I would end up with a determined water to the products used. I will use this water fraction for the salt work later. I also have some other ideas with which to use this water for, I will open this in upcoming posts.

I have a further theory from all my many studies of herbs and their constituents that a Great Elixir using the Proprietatis as a springboard for further investigation. I will elaborate upon these matters once I have some experiential results.

I had a download concerning a very special remedy to restore youth a short while back. We shall see how this unfolds.

To hand I had good quality Mrryh. I grow Aloe Vera plants so these were already available. I would purchase Saffron from a local store later.
The book includes excerpts from various texts. Renowned Alchemists mentioned include John Babtista, Van Helmont, Paracelcus, Crollus.

I added the Mrryh and Aloes together. Mashed them with a wood rolling pin then macerated all in the incubator. As a side, began a number of slow distillations to increase the purity of my determined Spirit fraction. This also removed a water which was kept aside for the work with the salts later. I added the second water to the first.

Extracting A Volatile Salt.

I extracted the first Volatile salts of the Elixir Propriatatis with a low heat distillation 30 Celcius. I added these salts to the Spirit as a base to the starting matter, continued more distillations of Ethanol. Each rotation refines the spirit further. All the cycling of spirits creates a final determined Spirit, this menstruum rapidly ingresses the body/mind conjunction of the operator with the matters sourced.
The refined Spirit may be used as is with the salts and volatile oils. I will keep the Fixed Sulphur aspect with the spirit and salts, which I will come to later.

According to the texts of which snippets are added to the aforementioned book this work assists the healing of Asthmah, Lungs, pestifferous humours in the stomach and Bowels, obstructions of the brain and Gout to name a few. You really should purchase the book for a lot more knowledge than I am able to include here.

The Aloe Saffron Mrryh in Solution.

After a series of distillations of the subtle spirit (ethanol) Aloe, Mryhh menstruum, I recieved a clear determined extract to which I added Saffron. This turned a deep red. I macerated this for a few days then incorporated it into the mash left in the flask. The Mrryh was clumpy and difficult to mix into this Spirit. A sediment soon formed and the mix cleared quickly. I could well of used this as my base remedy once filtered. This as mentioned in the book above by LW Osburn, is the first extraction of the Aloe Mryhh mash.

Pulverize the Aloe for maceration.

I decided to add more Aloe and Saffron to the initial first Menstruum. I grow my own Aloe so always have a good supply to hand.

First Menstruum Filtered.

First Menstruum of Elixir Proprietatis filtered. The Menstruum is thick and gloopy. I have the feeling this is not going to clear as do most of my other remedies. However I will try increasing grades of filter media to see what happens.

First high heat distillation of mash.

Starting the first pyrolytic distillation of the mash after extractions. The flask is placed in the kiln and the temperature slowly increased over a few days. Eventually upon completion, coals are obtained for the extract of metal acetates.

I tested some of the menstruum from the previous image. I felt a euphoric charge alongside rushes of energy pulsating through the body. Unfortunately, as the effects were unexpected I was unable to use this for meditation as I was out of the house at the time.
Colours were more vibrant and had a pleasant aura about them. At one point I felt the urge to laugh out loud. It was an overall pleasant experience, one which I will be using for meditation soon.

I have some ideas to incorporate this first Elixir Proprietatis with some other menstruums to gauge various combinations and their effects.

Kiln temps 100c. Receiver temps 19c. The oils have come over into the air condenser and coagulated with the salts formed. This distillation has been going 12 hours so far. Some water is present in the condenser as can be seen in the above image.
7:30 AM raised the kiln temps to 120c.
